This design problem asked to one of my 2nd Year Mechanical Engineering Design teams was to develop an advanced conceptual design for an entry-level 3-D printer for use in a small shop or office setting meant for professional on-site rapid prototyping.

For this project group, having empathy was crucial since there were many disagreements about which materials to use based on the constraints of the project. Understanding why a team member was thinking a certain way helped us better communicate to each other, but that initial lack of communication did make this group exhibit the less desirable aspects of team design.
Nonetheless, going through this team experience is going to help in my journey in finding the best ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Everyone has different methods of approaching a problem. From the listening skills I worked on in this group, it will better position me to understand and work with my future team members as we tackle the much larger issue of climate change.
